Our Story

Saddle Oak Barn

We are Mike and Dana Welch, the owners of Saddle Oak Barn.  Our oldest daughter got engaged in December of 2020 and we started looking for Wedding Venues; we quickly realized the shortage of venues serving our local communities, for weddings, receptions, and other large events.  Together with our children, in January of 2021, we decided to convert a barn on our property into an event venue and started our business operating Saddle Oak Barn.

Originating as a horse and dairy barn at Hall Farms, Saddle Oak Barn at Hall Place is truly a barn that we have modernized to be used as an event venue and not a modern building that has been made to look like a barn.

The History

Ralph and Janie Hall moved to this farm in 1948 where they raised their family and operated a dairy farm, cattle operation, row crop operation and a horse breeding operation that included breeding and training some of the premier Quarter Horses in Tennessee. Moving away from Yorkville in the 80’s, the property changed ownership several times, before being acquired by Mike and Dana Hall Welch, their granddaughter.

The barn primarily served as storage for the bulk of their marriage before embarking on this new business.  The transformation of Saddle Oak Barn was a family affair and operating the business is something they manage as a family.  While Mike and Dana take care of most of the onsite activities with tours and maintenance, Maddie manages the social media and most of the communication. Rebecca provides the creative direction for staging the venue for tours and also manages the procurement for decor and furniture rental. Charleston supports the parking and shuttle service, security and maintenance and prop set-up.
